This hike has everything except bears. Not that I mind that. Admittedly I've never had a positive bear encounter to date. (I mean, unless your definition of positive is ridiculously fast heart palpitations and a little peepee in the draws.)
Here's just some of the things you'll see on this bad boy:
Hot springs that range from 100 degrees to 130. (The 130 was a rumor actually. I cannot confirm myself of its existence.)
Cliff jumping into the Colorado River. (so cold btw.... soooo coooollllddddd)
A view of a really cool bridge.... If bridges are your thing.... I dunno... some people are bridge people. Other people are tunnel or curb people.
Snakes. (didn't see any but heard about em' and dats nuff for me)
Car wrecks. Yes yes cars that drove into a canyon and lie all a-smashed on the cliffsides. Hard to imagine anybody surviving such a calamity. Moment of silence....
Rope climbing.
Rock sliding. (the smooth kind - easy on thy rump kind)
Foreigners.
Natural trickling showers from above rocks and down wallsides.
I could go on. It was soooo hot and then nice and cooooool. The water burned me! And yet another water formation chilled me to the bone.
It's also free and there's parking nearby. I went on a weekend and it was a little crowded but it didnt take away from the experience much.
Now also it's important to realize that because there's some rope climbing over rocks you should be in pretty decent shape. And not too heavy. Like, if you can't pull your own body weight at all like, say, if you can't do one pullup for instance, then this hike is not something you should try. At least not the entire thing. There are several rope situations leading down to the river. So if you can't pull your weight around a little bit then I would recommend not doing this one.
But so fun! If you can do it! You will likey! Mucho mucho likey!
