  • What can I say, this is my first 1* rating. My girlfriend and I wanted a nice dinner in Las Vegas. We reviewed yelp and Zagat reviews and chose this place. The décor and ambiance are terrific, but that fell apart. We were dressed for a 5 star meal, but not everyone in restaurant shared our wardrobe. There was literally 5 or 6 tables were men were wearing ratty cargo shorts and tee shirts. I saw a woman in yoga pants. I was very disappointed to pay $50 for a steak and see someone that was barely dressed for Chipotle. Our waiter, Jay, started out great, but fell apart later (details to follow). We both ordered the same steak (NY Strip). The price was $55 including the blue cheese topping. Ala Carte, this is hefty, but I am willing to pay for quality. My girlfriends steak was cooked well, tasted great, but was tough (very tough - we mentioned it to the manager but he did not seem concerned about it). My steak I ordered rare. It was medium well to well when it came out. I cut it in half and called Jay over. He agreed and cooked me a new one. The steak part deux was not tough (like my girlfriends), cooked perfectly, BUT, I had asked me to put blackening seasoning on it. I took a bite and had a Pierce Brosnan reaction in Ms. Doubtfire when his shrimp was too spicy. They used Cajun Blackening. This seasoning made the steak way to salty (and I like salt) and very spicy (and I like spicy). I was not what I expected. I informed Jay about the seasoning and he said he would investigate. After that, we surmised Jay entered the witness protection program because we did not see him until the bill came. This was strange, because we were discrete about our concerns. When he did bring the bill I asked him about the seasoning and he said 'oh yeah' they ran out of regular blackening and used the Cajun instead. True story. I finished the steak. When Jay did finally emerge from the shadows he inexplicably gave the check to my girlfriend (she quickly shuttle passed it to me so no damage was done to her wallet). The check included $0 off for our issues. For newbie diners, this is NOT usual for well-dressed well-mannered diner where the kitchen screws the pooch. While I am piling on complaints, one more. There is no restroom in the restaurant. The restroom is literally half way across a crowded, smoky, dare I say dingy casino and that restroom, well let's just say it was not as clean as it could have been. Again, for a high end dining place, I should not have to walk 4 minutes one way and get some free longshot horse advice from a guy in the next urinal smoking a cigar. Not what I was expecting. Overall, maybe we got unlucky. However, I would recommend avoiding this place for 2 reasons. 1. Do not support a fine dining restaurant that does not enforce a dress code and 2. Do not support a restaurant that cannot resolve a problem. Every casino hotel has a steakhouse, avoid this one AND the Circus Circus steakhouse. Same problem there - no dress code, no problem resolution.
