| - I booked 3 days here after receiving an enticing offer in the mail (although I'm not sure how they got my name and address since I had not signed up for a players card with them or stayed previously) for discounted stay + 2 tix to Le Reve.
I had no problems checking in and getting a room right away early in the morning. I was told I also got 1 free buffet per day. When I checked out, this turned out not to be the case -- so minus one star for incompetent desk staff misleading me (I think she may have confused my offer for another offer?). It would be two stars if management wasn't willing to meet me halfway, so that's something at least. I suggest that you only follow what you've been given in writing, if you stay here.
Pros - Soundproofing from outside and from other rooms is very good; Temperature regulation is great; Much to my great shock, I did pretty well at the slots here (hey, it does make you feel better about the whole experience when you win); Generous selection of toiletries; Blackout curtains were effective (would be even better if they overlapped a little at the center and didn't leave a small gap, though this is the case with 99% of hotels -- however THEhotel's curtains work this way, and I've seen it a few other times);
Meh - Room decor was not appealing for me, and I prefer when the bedroom is separate; I'm normally not a buffet person (and can no longer eat more than a non-heaped plate or two) and while this is probably the nicest buffet in Vegas, I would never have paid for it for what they're asking, maybe half that, it was just okay, the menu did not really change from day to day, some items were tasty but many were not, or were cold or over- or undercooked, and most of the desserts were way way too sweet (and this is coming from a very devoted dessert fiend); Shower pressure and temperature (this was way better in their spa with the same equipment); Cell service not too good from inside room.
Cons - Wi-Fi was slow and unstable; soundproofing from out in the hall not so great -- and Saturday night was awful with people making noise out there all night and the room next door having a nasty screaming fight around 2 am (of course, this can happen anywhere); drugstore/sundries shops are about as expensive as the minibar in your room (i.e. highway robbery); Bathroom seemed reasonably clean overall, but bath rugs were nasty and crunchy feeling, like they never get washed & mysterious black streaks on the bottles.
Le Reve was great, and it was awesome not having to pay to see it (and no issues on the billing on that front). I would probably stay again if I got a similar deal and had someone to take up to Vegas with me next time. Otherwise I will probably stay somewhere else more relaxing. Encore (and Wynn) had much more of a loud party atmosphere than I expected, and that's not what I'm looking for.
