| - I will start off by saying that Geisha a Go Go is my go-to spot for happy hour, social gatherings, and taking out of town guests. I frequent Geisha a few times a month for their great happy hour which consists of $1 infused sake shots, $4 sake carafes, and half off apps and house maki rolls. GREAT happy hour.
Needless to say, Geisha seemed like a no-brainer to host my birthday dinner. Everyone was to meet there for sushi and drinks to kick off my big night. I called ahead to make a reservation. They don't take reservations but do accept "call-aheads" which basically puts your name high up on the waiting list... I told the hostess it would be a group of 10, give or take. No problem, she assured me. But once we arrived, I was immediately treated like this was a huge inconvenience. Come to find out I'd have 1-2 more joining us later on, and this seemed like it was asking way too much.
So I'm wondering why on my birthday I'm being treated like bringing 12 people's worth of business is a bad thing?! Finally we're crammed into what I deem the worst table in the house--an awkwardly shaped corner table next to the bathroom--and spend the rest of my time there being regularly approached by servers and managers to "double check" that no other guests would be joining me...again being made to feel that I have done something wrong and that more business is unwelcome. Our waitress did a good job of reaffirming her irritation with me and by the end, I couldn't be more ready to leave, which was by the looks of it exactly what she wanted.
In conclusion, while this is still a beloved happy hour spot, I feel a bit betrayed by my poor experience on my birthday. Since happy hour is obviously what Geisha does best, I recommend going for that and taking your bigger-party-business elsewhere.
