| - After having been a customer of the Walking Company for many, many years I am sad to say that my experience recently at the Fashion Show Mall Store #310 was one of the most horrible retail experiences ever. The "salesman" was immediately rude and argumentative - for some reason directing me ONLY to one brand of shoes while explaining what is bad, wrong, substandard, useless about every other brand in the store.
I promise, I am not exaggerating.
He also managed to insult my intelligence repeatedly while disparaging all these brands. If I mentioned that I have regularly worn Keen shoes for hiking, he tsk tsk'd and claimed that ALL KEEN shoes are the same, the only thing that makes them fit is the insole which wears out quickly and then the shoe is garbage. When I gravitated towards the display of Dansko shoes he crossed his arms and TOLD ME that these shoes were not going to help me at all, even as I explained how very stabilizing and comfortable this brand had proven over the years, and how it helped me to reduce foot pain I had in the past.
There was no stopping this PROFESSOR, this GENIUS, from proving that I was stupid, he knew everything and I should just about buy the MBT shoes he kept pushing without even trying them on! Not really, he would have let me try them on, however I had explained that not only had I tried these in the past, but personally knew several people who had very bad experiences with this shoe.
Oh well, I gave up - asked him his name - which he told me while pointing to a woman right next to us helping another customer and saying "You could talk to my manager, she's right there". Of course, why would I want to talk to his manager who had just allowed him to lose a sale, and speak rudely to a customer for the last 20 minutes.
This long time Walking Company customer then took her business to the many other stores in this mall that carry all the same brands - and come to find out at much better prices. Not only will I not be shopping at this store again, but I'll be sure to direct my friends, family and colleagues away from this nasty retailer.
