  • We went to Mercy Gilbert for the Delivery of our Daughter. The reason for the the three star would be we did have three great nurses in the recovery rooms... We also had one nurse that we did not like at all, rooms also seemed older because they were dirty, especially the floors and bathrooms. Food was not that great and it was hard to get ahold of the nurse when we were in the delivery room. We went to the hospital on my due date and started the induction. We saw many different doctors during the induction because it took 2 days for things to develop enough for me to push. One Nurse placed an IV in my inner elbow and it felt awful like it was not in the right place and caused a lot of pain, she said I needed to wait for it to heat up and soften. After waiting 30 minutes with no improvement I was in pain and a different nurse we knew from the ER came to check on us and she moved it for us it was much better after being moved to my arm. Once I received the epidural I still had pain in my right hip. The nurses continually heated up a heat pack and placed it on my hip... After a few rounds of that I developed a burn blister on my pelvic area. I noticed it once I was pushing and felt it with my hand. The nurses had me start pushing before the doctor arrived, that went on for about 2 hours. Then, the doctor finally arrived and they were not able to track my contractions. They continued to have me push for another 2 hours until 7pm when the nurses were going to have to switch shifts. At that point the doctor finally suggested we do a c-section. I did not want to do a c-section but being a new mom I was not aware that pushing for 4 hours was way too much. We went into the operating room and delivered a healthy baby girl! Luckily I had great healthcare through work or we would have been stuck with a bill of over 20,000 for the delivery/stay. This really made me feel like they were trying to rip people off after seeing what my healthcare actually paid them and that the balance was just dropped. We visited our friend about 3 months later at Banner Estrella when she has a little girl and her room and delivery process seemed much better. We may try that hospital if we have a second child.
