After trying gel nail polish elsewhere and being disappointed in the product (it came off within 6 days two times in a row), I decided to try SNS. I bought into the hype that it was better for your nails and was again disappointed to discover that the nail prep involved removing the top layer of my nails (not just buffing), the application was thick and the end result less natural looking than I had wanted. The rounded, thick nature of SNS made it difficult to do a lot of things I am accustomed to doing with my nails. The soak off process was painful and left my sensitive skin angry for over a week (they had me place my fingers in a bowl of strong acetone for over 25 minutes) and the dip powder does not lend itself to fancy nail designs. The second try with SNS solidified it was just not for me. I went in Saturday for a full acrylic set (overlay on my natural nails) with gel polish and not only do they look completely natural, but she made my ombré nail idea reality and it is even prettier than my reference photo. They are thin and shaped perfectly, I am in absolute love with the result. The nail prep was surprisingly minimal and no further damage was done and she assured me that the fills will likewise do minimal damage to my natural nails. Although I didn't like SNS, the nail technician I worked with was sweet and accommodating, so I do not blame her for my disliking that product. The owner was understanding and gave me a discount on my acrylic service since my second set of SNS nails started lifting (and one broke) within their guaranteed timeframe. I am now a loyal customer to my new nail technician. Edited 6/12/18: My nail tech left and the technician who they had me work with could not accomplish the design that my previous tech had stated she could do. I was leaving for a 16 day overseas trip the following morning and decided to work with the new tech since they had no one else who could do my preferred design. Although the design we finally found was pretty, I would have much preferred the several I showed her that she could not accomplish (she stated she did not have the tools to do the designs I wanted) rather than the one I had to settle on. I am not downgrading my 5 star review since my experiences with everyone were positive, but I will be looking elsewhere to find a tech who can do exactly what I want every time.
