My daughter started coming to Smile Reef to get some cavities filled in February of 2017 and they recommended an oral sedation/nitrous combination.
*The office informed me that my insurance covered the majority of the procedure. She even commented on how good of an insurance plan I had. So I called later to confirm the amount and schedule the appointment. *
She did not react well to the medicine and after struggling to get one filling done, the Dentist threw his hands up in frustration.
When I went to leave the office informed me that my insurance did not cover the procedure, said I needed to pay immediately, charged me the full amount as I had to take a screaming half-conscious child home.
I understand that payment is due at the time services are completed. This was unnecessary and I should not have been charged. The claim was not even submitted to the insurance before they charged me. They submitted the claim 5 full days after the visit. This was not pre-authorized as it should have been. Procedures over $300 require pre-authorization. I feel completely taken advantage of in this situation and Smile Reef has done nothing except take my money for a job they never completed.
This claim was suppose to be resubmitted to my insurance as medically necessary as well which has yet to be done. I am filing a complaint with the insurance company as well.
You seemed to have no problem refunding the amount last time to her father, but then again he is a much better flirt with office ladies.
