| - This used to be my go-to budget Fremont hotel, but after last weekend (July 20-23) I'm thoroughly disappointed and don't plan on staying here again.
I have honestly always loved the Casino, the long bar (free water bottles if you show your room key), the security staff, the location of the hotel, the cleanliness of rooms, the rock hard feeling beds that ALWAYS give me a goodnight's sleep, and of course, the price.
My most recent trip was different: check-in took a ridiculously long time (and they accidently charged me the deposit twice, on my debit card, so that cash was tied up all week), word has it the elevator got stuck and the emergency response team came in and none of the elevators worked for a while (i tried the stairs on the third floor- that door was locked, safety hazard!!), the restaurant on the 2nd level was disgusting and the wait staff was very rude/rushed/annoyed by us, the pool was no better than one at a Motel 6.
*** THE REAL KICKER: After being there for less than 36 hours, two security guards came banging on our door (even with the "Do Not Disturb" sign out) to do a "welfare check." I was sleeping, it was a Saturday afternoon (prime Vegas napping time). If your policy is to do a welfare check after 3 days, as your front desk agent told me (she also said if I hadn't answered they would have came in anyways), then please wait three days. And DONT bang on doors that have the privacy sign out.
I used to love it here, this last trip ruined everything about it. Stay at the Golden Nugget, it's worth the extra money!
