  • I don't always like cupcakes. Generally speaking, they are just lifeless cake smothered in sugary frosting. Not exactly a complex palate-pleaser. However I have to say, I find it really hard to go to Chinook mall without getting a Bliss cupcake (or 6). First off, they are SO MUCH BETTER THAN CRAVE CUPCAKES! I apologize to all of you die-hard Crave fans. But... no. The cake portion of Bliss cupcakes varies from red velvet to carrot cake to lemon cake to classic chocolate and vanilla. And the icing (while a little too abundant for my taste) actually tastes like something other than goo. Muddled strawberries in the strawberry icing, cream cheese frosting for the carrot cake, a bright lemony zing for the lemon cake! But I do end up slicing some of the frosting off the top. Just a little much for me. And I'm sure my dentist would concur. At any rate, Bliss cupcakes are much better quality cupcakes than most one-trick pony bakeries. The mini cupcakes they have are great if you don't want a diabetes-inducing giant cupcake. And, best of all for us nut/peanut allergy people, they run a nut free kitchen :)
