| - Terrific evening at Meat & Potatoes. We decided that the appetizers were more exciting than the main courses, so my wife and I put together a meal of the artisan cheese plate, mussels plus garlic bread and fries, and brisket mac and cheese. All terrific. The large bowl of mussels could certainly be a meal for one, and was a lot for two. The Diamondback cocktail was outstanding, with the yellow chartreuse and apple brandy adding nuances while letting the Bulleit rye shine. I'll be ordering these in the future. My one demerit, and the reason my review is not 5 stars: The tables for two are just too small. I admit, by having multiple appetizers, we required more than the usual amount of space, but the tiny round tables really don't work. Also, the bench seat along the wall is low and uncomfortable (I felt like I was sitting on a hump and worried that a spring might pop through), and I heard others complain about the cushioned chairs as well. Everything looks great -- but this is a case of form not following function. M&P needs to rethink this aspect of its design.
