  • After watching Giada on Food Network since I was a child and absolutely adoring her, I was so excited and eager to have the chance to finally eat at her restaurant. The location and ambiance of the restaurant are great! The music is good, our view was amazing, the decor is beautiful. But the food... I can't say I would recommend anything we ate tonight to anyone in good faith. First off, it's worth mentioning that if anyone in your dining party has an allergy or sensitivity to dairy, STEER CLEAR. Almost the entire menu contains dairy products and there are very few dishes that can be altered without removing an integral part of the recipe. My family is familiar with this process because we are all allergic to dairy and have been our entire lives- we understand this is difficult sometimes for restaurants to accommodate. But to be limited to one or two choices on every single section of the menu is just sad for a restaurant of this caliber. Once we were able to choose between the few options that we had, the food was thoroughly underwhelming. The best thing we ate was easily the focaccia bread that came out before our meal, and the 5 of us shared the two small rolls we were given. Thankfully our appetizers came out quickly. However, the Fritto Misto was too salty and the sauce had a very unsettling metallic taste. The charred octopus salad was decent, but the octopus was cold which made it a little bit chewy. And we could taste a significant amount of cheese in the chicken Marsala meatballs which the waiter did not mention to us when we ordered them, even though he knew we had dairy allergies. The entrees were even more disappointing with the exception of the scallops. They were perfectly cooked, though they too were extremely salty. The spaghetti we ordered was too al dente to the point that it was almost a bit crunchy, and was so bland. It had no detectable flavor at all. I've read a lot of other yelp reviews which listed complaints about service which we did not experience, thankfully. Hence, the two stars. Our server was attentive and friendly and was one of the only redeeming qualities of our meal at Giada's. If you're looking for an excellent Italian meal which leaves you full and satisfied, I am sad to say that you should look elsewhere. Giada's was truly disappointing.
