If you ever take a trip to fabulous Las Vegas - do yourself a favor and rent a car and go to this park. It is simply majestic and beautiful. There is a visitors center near the entrance that'll give you the skinny on the rock formations and exhibits and such. What lies next is the most beautiful thirteen mile driving loop you will see and it's just minutes from the strip. Best times to go are either very early in the morning or later in the afternoon when the shadows play their part on the mountains. Cloudy days are also excellent as the true colors in the desert don't get washed out by the glaring sun. Remember that this is the desert and it gets hot- bring water if you decide to hike around. And do go hike around- be still and enjoy the scenery- watch for wildlife and you may be presently surprised. On a trip this past weekend we saw plenty of lizards, small birds, chipmunks, and even a rattle snake. On other trips we have seen wild burrows, horses and coyotes. Bring your camera and take pics that'll last a lifetime.
