  • We recently ended our membership at Seville after a year. What we learned over our one year membership was that this club was just ok. It sounds great when you sign up. There's golf, three pools and a water slide, tennis, fitness rooms with classes, a private restaurant, social clubs, the list goes on! We took advantage of the fitness areas, some fitness classes, the pools, restaurant, and I played about 10 rounds of golf. You feel like you are really becoming part of something great! Well, as we learned over the course of our membership, that luster wears off quickly. The employees were cordial, but they seemed like they'd rather be somewhere else. The membership staff rarely returns your calls and basically forgets about you once they "have you in the door" (I'm still waiting for a return call from over two weeks ago). The golf staff is friendly, although I inquired about private lessons with two separate pro's and got a response after two weeks from only one of them... I got to know the billing manager well because I found an issue with my bill several times throughout our membership. She was very helpful and always returned calls in a timely manner. I was warned by my neighbors (also members) to keep an eye on my bill because they have a tendency to charge for things you didn't get, or charge incorrectly for things you did. I was surprised to hear that, but listened all the same. It turned out to be good advice. If I could offer any advice of my own about this club to prospective members, it would be to look at the cost of the membership versus what you really want. If you're into the pomp and circumstance of private country club life, by all means, go for it! If you're on-the-fence, take heed. The golf course is nice, but it isn't nicer than many others that don't need a membership to play and are less costly. The restaurant is ok. You can eat many, many other places that have better service and better food. The fitness area is small and fills up fast. You find yourself standing around and waiting to use machines at peak times or if somebody decided they needed to do a circuit training session. It got very annoying after a while. Also, be prepared if you take advantage of their "amenities", your monthly dues will balloon! By amenities I mean fitness classes, food and drinks at the pool, food and drinks in the restaurant, golf cart fees, guest fees, club parties...etc. There are a lot of nickel-and-dime charges that add up to real money at the end of the month. As a sports member, you could be in over $400/month (like us) and as a golf member, you could be up over $1000/month (like friends of mine)! In the end, those facts, along with the lukewarm staff and billing issues, were enough for us. To seal the deal further, we learned that once you resign from the club, you have to sign a document that basically says you're banned from the club (even as a guest) for a year after your resignation date. Nothing says "thanks for being a member" like getting banned for a year!
