| - After spending a lot of time and energy researching a new mattress (online and in person), my boyfriend and I were pretty confident we had selected the one we wanted; while it was going to have to be budgeted for and aggressively shopped for the best deal, it was definitely suitable to both of our preferences... Then Taylor suggested we check out the options at the liquidation center.. what a HUGE mistake!!
First of all, if you're wanting a used car sales experience while purchasing your new bed- this is the place for you! Full of hot air to close the sale but not a lot of knowledge on your financing providers. Ultimately, saving more than half of what the ideal bed cost was more important to my boyfriend so we went with a bed from the liquidation center.. annddd then I paid for choosing a fly by night bed with my credit score!
You see, the salesman, Dave, claimed that Best Mattress can exceed the customers approved credit amount by %10. It seemed a little suspect and out of the ordinary, so I guess the ultimate blame is on me for not digging deeper. But after dealing with the incessant sales pitch and wanting to move on with my day, I stupidly trusted him. Then two weeks later when the new account is added to my credit profile, my score completely tanks because they didn't have "authorization to add on %10 of the approved amount", they just exceeded the credit line! So now I have my second credit account ever hit my profile and it's already been over utilized by 10%! Fantastic!!
So I call up Dave (who has already been dealing with me over his ineptness with an accessory sold to us- can't even go into all that or this review would be a small novel), and let him know he completely screwed my credit score with his inappropriate 10% addition on top of my approval. First he basically challenges me that the line of credit is overextended, then he backpedaled and deflected stating "well that's what all our salespeople understood", then when his clout with the financing institution didn't yield any results, I waited several days to hear from their regional manager.
The regional manager tried to cover Dave's butt, telling me that there was a misunderstanding, they were sorry, and now that they ruined my credit score and brought it to their attention, they would know better for next time. His ultimate solution was to attempt to get me to spend more of my money with them by getting the original bed I wanted at some out of this world deal, but it will be a cold day in hell before this company gets another dime from me! So glad you guys could use my credit as a guinea pig for your "financing misunderstanding"; now maybe try to help that extremely unhappy customer instead of try to make yourself another $700 and act like it's for my "satisfaction".
Like I said, there are a handful of other issues not worth diving into here. Ultimately maybe the joke's on me for not listening to every instinct telling me to not give this place my business, but please heed the warning to stay far away from this apathetic discount retailer with their service and knowledge to match- you get exactly what you pay for!
