I'm not a fan of zoos and not even a huge fan of reptiles, but I absolutely love this place! The reason why I love this place? All the animals are rescues - even the huge Nile crocodiles! Most of them are illegal pets that owners either released or couldn't care for anymore. The exhibits look natural and you can tell the animals are well-cared for.
My boyfriend took me here because he knows I love animals (and there was also a groupon for $9 admission). We came here during a weekday afternoon and we thought it was closed because of how empty it was. Literally nobody else besides us was inside, which I highly prefer! One of the staff members found us and gave us our own private tour! She let us touch a few of the animals and was very knowledge on all the different species they have there. We even got a private view of the crocodile feeding! They have a cute little indoor pond with red-eared sliders (turtles - I used to have 2 of them), and you can buy pellets to feed them.
If you can, I highly recommend coming during an off-peak hour (when kids are in school). Avoid weekends if you hate crowds!!!!! There's plenty of parking and even a cool gift shop. I will definitely be back!
