| - Consumer beware! I dropped my car off this morning due to a radiator leak. I clearly told Cameron, the service manager that I wanted only the minimum repairs completed because I was getting a new car in 2 weeks. I repeatedly explained to him that I am not keeping the car and did not want to put a lot of unnecessary money into the car. Later, I received a call from Cameron with a quote for the repair for a new water pump and thermostat of $982.00. My car is a 2003 and is barely worth more than that. I then asked Cameron if it was absolutely necessary to buy a new thermostat. He told me that yes, the thermostat had to be replaced with the water pump. During the call, I inquired one more time if ALL the quoted repairs were needed to keep the car running on city streets for another 2 weeks. He replied yes. I asked if there was any way the service could be adjusted to cost less. He replied no. I called another repair shop and received a quote for $690 to have the water pump and thermostat replaced. So, I went back into Sun Auto to obtain my keys so I could drop my car off at the other shop to save about $300. Suddenly, Cameron changed his tune. He then told me that he could try to open the thermostat, and take off a few services of what he initially said I needed. He quoted me $524 for the services and told me that yes, $524 of repairs would definitely be enough to replace the water pump that would keep my car running for at least 2 more weeks. I find this very unethical that I was told two different quotes that were $500 apart. He was obviously trying to upsell me. I ended up leaving my car for repair at Sun Auto since the $524 was cheaper then my second quote, and I live nearby. Now in retrospect, I think I should have just walked out because Cameron was obviously not upfront with me and was trying to make more money. I could have walked out of there spending about $500 more than was necessary. That is not fair or honest. The only reason why I am giving 2 stars instead of 1 is because the manager of the shop was there when I came to pick up my car. He was very nice and listened to the story and apologized and agreed this was unethical sales tactics on Cameron's part. He told me that he will report this to the owner of Sun Auto In the meantime, I would like to just warn people about this practice occuring at Sun Auto on Stephanie in Henderson.
