I had a scoliosis consultation today with the PA for Dr Crandall. I had my X-rays on my back done and an injection in my buttocks for muscular hip pain. She was very thorough and took her time with me in explaining the scans. She was very compassionate as I was crying in front of her from the stupid pain. My curvature is in the 65 degree range now that I'm 40 so it's progressively gotten worse and with that, much more pain and debilitation. I've decided to no longer hold off and I'll be getting the back surgery with Crandall in October. He's been my scoliosis doc for over 25 years when I was a kid so I know he knows what he's doing. Waited 30 years when my curve was only 32 degrees when I was diagnosed and technology has advanced so much so that recovery is really only one to three weeks now compared to the six months to a year it was going to take when I was 10. No point in holding off any longer. Technology will get much better but my pain won't until I do this. Overall office visit was 75 minutes.
