| - I can't give them less than one star. That seems like almost a greater crime than what Bristol West did. Don't ever use this company under any circumstances. I've never had problems like this with any other insurance company. Here's the story:
Took out six month policy with them. Got a personal phone call from Jim Shay in Phoenix saying he could save me some money. I thought it was a nice, personal touch, so I decided to go with him--even though they weren't the cheapest. All transactions were made.....no insurance cards sent. Call his office. His secretary Steve answers. Steve says they will send one out. Months go by; no insurance cards. I ended up switching jobs. I call them and let them know my payment will be a few days late because of the different paycheck cycle. They say okay, then charge me an extra 15 dollars. Ok, I understand, I didn't pay on time.
Then, I ask for insurance again. They say they will send them out. This never happens. Two weeks go by, I tell them to keep the cards, and to cancel my insurance policy. I called a new company and made the start day the day the other one ends. There was no lapse in coverage. I call JIM SHAY over the phone to remind him to cancel my policy. He says I have to write him a letter stating it. I took me a few days to write him, but as this was happening, my insurance was still activate.
To summarize the end, I was forced to send the company the declaration page of my new policy, a written letter saying when I wanted to cancel and other personal information. After which, they never called me to confirm or update me on the situation. I get an e-mail saying I owe them almost a hundred dollars two weeks after sending that out. It also states, if it is not paid in two weeks, it will be send to a collection agency.
I speak to a Bristol West manager for a half an hour, I ask him what the fees are, and he cannot explain them. He says there is a fifty dollar cancellation fee, and the other fifty dollars, he could not explain. I asked many questions to detail it, trying to avoid unnecessary fees, but he would not commit to an explanation.
I now have to pay them 100 dollars after I did everything they asked for, and spent time seeking an explanation from them. I've never been treated so badly and negligently from a company. What they are doing cannot be legal.
