| - Entering Giada, we were welcomed by the scent of old-world style cured meats and fresh artisan bread. The atmosphere was warm and inviting. Friendly staff escorted us to a table in under a minute where we were immediately offered water. Opening the drink menu, we took the opportunity to sip ice-cold cocktails, inspired by the films "Serpico" and "La Strada". We informed our server - Rocco S. - that my Wife has celiac sprue, and were thrilled when he referred us to the numerous Gluten-wise options on the menu. We commenced with Roasted Eggplant Parmigiana (very nice smokey bite with scamorza cheese) and Charred Octopus - a favorite because of the delicate balance between the rich meatiness of the squid and the bright acidity of the shaved fennel and lemon aioli. Next, it was time for wine and I was pleased to find a broad list, including several reasonably-priced mid-market selections. When our vino arrived we were ready to order mains, electing to indulge in fresh pasta - mine the Lobster Ravioli and hers; the Gluten-free Shrimp Spaghetti. (By far the best GF pasta she has ever tried) Both were decadent, rich and satisfying, prepared perfectly - just on the soft side of a firm bite. Our side selections were equally enjoyable diversions, being the Sweet Corn and Sausage and the Artichoke. Again, a perfect balance between the sweet, smokey sausage bite and the light, citrus-imbued artichokes. Not being let down by a single taste and knowing it may be quite a while until our return to Giada, we decided to relax with coffee and a macaroon dessert as well as ordering additional food to take with us. I asked Rocco S. what his "go-to" protein on the menu would be and he described the Milanese Veal Chop. I was sold! The traditional, breaded chop (which I sadly could not share with my lovely lady!,) had an excellent, dark crunch on the outside, complimented by large flakes of Parmesan adorning the top, enveloping the warm, velvety explosion of perfectly cooked veal. This is a dish I will no doubt crave for some time. Giada offers the ultimate culinary experience, with depths of flavor and a level of service that restored our appreciation for dining out. We will return at every opportunity. Our only regret - we didn't get a chance to meet Giada!
