  • There are two Rudy's Country BBQ in Phoenix, one in Goodyear and the other one at Chandler. I have visited both locations numerous times and I would easily give the one at Chandler at 5-star, but not this one at Goodyear. This restaurant, Rudy's at Goodyear won't give you the same great experience like the one at Chandler, because this location lacks the quality control. This means you are likely to get "bad quality" meat from time to time, especially during weekday. Why? Here is an example. You order moist brisket, but you may end up getting something dried. This is because they try to exhaust all the meat that's already sitting there for a long time before they take the fresh ones out from the kitchen. From a quality control standpoint, you should throw away the meat once it's been in sitting in the "warmer" area for too long. This is just like McDonald giving you a burger that has been sitting there for so long to the point that the paddy gets dried and hard; same logic here. So yes, you might get some REAL moist brisket if you are lucky. They are nice and juicy, worth the driving. It takes me 35 minutes to get to this location and I don't care if I have to bypass Dillons or other BBQ places along the way. When the moist brisket is done right, you are looking at the best brisket in Phoenix (restaurant quality, some of you have PhD in BBQ so I am sure your home-made can still beat it of course). Or, if you are unlucky, the staff will fill your order with some dried moist brisket. To avoid this, just go during a weekend because there are more people during that time and the turnover is much higher. By the way, don't even bother to sample the meat. Sometimes the meat you sampled is from a different cut. Instead, ask the service staff to bring the order in front you, so you can examined the meat with your own eyes at close range. Those meats are not cheap, so don't settle for less. The staffs are always friendly so they are very easy to work with. They give you the "bad stuff" probably because the managers told them to do so. What a shame, this restaurant can easily take down a 5-star since everything else is just great (right beer, right atmosphere, you name it). Unfortunately they still beat other BBQ restaurants even after they slack off, so I guess I will stick with it until I discover another great BBQ restaurant. Any suggestions from the BBQ-expert yelper will be greatly appreciated.
