Of the eateries and pubs you could go to on the Esplanade, this place is definitely the poorer cousin of the bunch. Scotland Yard has been in its place for ages and truly makes no apologies for it. It is what it is, warts and all.
On the inside, everything seems to have been there forever. The furniture. The fixtures. The staff. The clients. Everything about this place screams "local" to the point that you sometimes hate to intrude. It could probably do with a makeover but I'm not sure that would particularly jive with everyone involved. Those who go there seem to like it, and the staff don't seem to want to change it either.
It's a drinking hole with a standard menu of pub food. If you're looking for a cold pint and a plate of chicken fingers while watching the hockey game, you could do worse than here. Otherwise, I'd start strolling down the Esplanade.
