I've typically had decent looking skin. The last few months I've been having moderate acne breakouts with hyperpigmentation. I blame the proper use of my Clarisonic Mia 2 facial brush. I swear it causes my breakouts. I decided to visit a dermatologist about the hyperpigmentation and acne.
I'll breakdown my experience in Pros and Cons
Pros
The wait in the office was less than 45 minutes
The staff and doctor were very nice
The staff return phone calls and answer questions in a timely manner
Billing was easy
They emailed my new patient information so I could complete it before the appointment
Cons
I don't think the doctor that I saw understood how to treat the acne for those with lots of melanin in the skin. I didn't want any prescriptions that state they cause hypopigmentation issues or medications with cancer warnings. Unfortunately that request left me with no prescriptions. All suggested meds were over the counter items.
I was given information for a specific pharmacy and discounts specific to that location but I don't live near the pharmacy. Why have agreements with pharmacies at all? Just makes me think of pharma salespeople I just want to be able to go to CVS or Walgreen's and preferably the drive through.
The office space was very old but it looked like they were preparing to move locations. I didn't see any technology that would assist in diagnosing skin issues or would provide any alternative skin treatments.
I was hoping to find a long term dermatologist so I'm still looking.
