| - We have been coming to this park since it first opened. The dinosaur themed sand pit is certainly an area to excite your young child's discovery side, the adequate playground space for children to run around, the different levels of slides that makes playing hide-and-seek more of a workout, the splash pad to cool down on those hot Vegas days/nights, a separate playground for the preschool and school aged, 2 swings for each as well, surround by ponds and waterfalls where turtles dip and bask, and ducks quack around...
On the other side of the park (the end where the NLV library is located) is where you'll find a volleyball and tennis court, fields where you can throw a football, play soccer, horseshoes, bocce, and picnic cabanas that can be used for parties (by reservations or if it isn't reserved then first come first serve), and a walking path that loops around and through the park which I find makes a good jog a few times over or to use for sprints (given the path is clear).
While my review is 4 stars...sometimes depending when you go, you may find it to be a 3 or 3.5 stars. Maybe 2 if you're in a foul mood or had a bad experience. The splash pad at times could be filthy because of folks' trash because of wind or they just have never heard of a garbage can, the ducks poop convoluting the sidewalks can make for a nice stroll...on your tippy toes! There are a total of 4 swings on that playground which 2 of those swings are the booster seated type for toddlers and babies. The waiting can get real. I dislike standing there because I don't want the parent pushing their child to feel rush because they too have had to wait as their child has had to eagerly wait as well. But you do, or else you'll lose your position. Basically there is a race to the swings. Lol. For the longest one of their regular swings have been out of order...I haven't been back onto the playground itself to know if it's been fixed by now.
There is only ONE bathroom location. I repeat...ONE. Not one bathroom stall, just one area where the restrooms are located. So if you are at the other end of the park and you are pregnant, have a toddler in potty training mode, have bad knees...while it's not technically far...but given such circumstances...it's far. Lol.
The ponds can get pretty filthy as well with debris and trash. Please don't swim in it. I swear I once seen a teenaged girl basking on the biggest waterfall all drenched giggling as her friends looked on. I supposed she was.in a middle of a snapchat or instagram photo shoot. The smell can be pretty stanky when it's not maintained. So please don't swim, splash, or fall in it. Lol.
It really is a nice place to hangout with your family. I'm just saying if you ever go and catch it on a bad day...you may wonder why I gave it 4 stars. My kids love it here and it isn't one of those sketchy parks at all. I love that there are places to get a snack, treat, or something to eat, and even a Starbucks to pick up a warm drink on a cold day/night simply by walking across the street.
Aside from the negatives, every park will experience such as it is a high traffic venue and the issues it experiences is a reflection of that (especially in CNLV where budgets are an issue). I'm still giving my thumbs up and a recommendation. Definitely stroller friendly!!
