  • If I could give a negative ten stars here I would. I recently rented to own a bedroom set for my daughter and a sectional. We decided on RAC because of the proximity to our home and the supposed ease of making payments. The people who helped us in store were very nice. However, once the furniture was delivered we learned the true meaning of what it means to rent from these places. From the first due date I was called on the due date - to ask when I would be making the payment. The next day - two calls - and each time asking me to re verify my information again over the phone. I made my payment. The next week, as we are getting ready to head off to a shower, here comes the rent a center van pulling up to my house and a lady getting out to ask me when I was making my payment!! It wasn't due for two days!!!! she called the office - then apologized. Embarrassing?? yes - necessary? Absolutely not! I just called the store to make another payment today - The store manager answered. He proceeded to ask me the same verification questions in a very derogatory manner - I said, I am at work - I have a few minutes only - please take my payment information. He refused. He said I had to verify my pay periods and then he would take my information. I have NEVER been talked to like that by a person who is supposed to be customer oriented and trying to make their store money. I felt demeaned and disrespected - like I should be ashamed to have to be renting furniture - the call ended with the MANAGER of the store saying - fine - I'll be by your house tomorrow to pick up MY merchandise. I will NEVER use RAC ever again in my life - and I am writing to corporate and letting them know what kind of people they have working for them.
