  • The restaurant is a nice surprise in the middle of Coronado. You don't really expect something so nice there. They have a lovely full bar that would be nice to sit at and just have a couple drinks. The service was very attentive and great. My beef was with the food. The prices are a little steep but I guess you are paying for the ambience, and the portions are small. My brother and I had happy hour cocktails, the baguette with roasted garlic, the shrimp piri piri, the surf and turf special, and the banana bread desert. Their happy hour goes from 5-6 and their signature cocktails are $5. I got a tasty bourbon drink and my brother got a (non-happy hour) vodka tonic. They make their own tonic there, which I give them props for, but my brother said it tasted weird and was too sweet for a tonic. The shrimp was ok. The piri piri was not very flavorful and there were only about 5 small shrimp and an abundance of pita tips. This was more like a small appetizer then a small meal. The roasted garlic with the baguette was good but I can't believe that they charge for bread and call it an appetizer. The surf & turf special was a really fatty ribeye steak with even smaller shrimp on top, soggy yellow rice and french fries. We asked for medium and got very rare (but at least it wasn't over cooked, I guess). If you're paying $30 for a 4-6 ounce steak, the meat to fat ratio should be a little higher and it should be cooked right. The moist and plentiful banana bread desert was probably the best part of the meal. I went in here really wanting to love this place but I probably would only come back for drinks and desert. To their credit, the restaurant is well decorated and they have great service.
