  • I had a less than lovely experience with the practice's front office people on Monday, which I would hope the doctor's are not aware of. If any of my staff spoke to a client of mine as the doctors staff spoke to me on Monday, they would be fired on the spot. I made an appointment to see Dr. Lykens about 16 days ago. Last week someone from the office called me and said that they made a mistake and made my appointment with Dr. Bailey, did I mind seeing him because Dr. Lykens was out of town. Since I have been sick for weeks, and I could not wait two more weeks, I said Dr. Bailey is fine. The appointment was for 3:30. As an attorney, I spend my life making and keeping appointments. I arrived at 3:30; the front office girl told me I was late. I said I didn't think so, I had it down for 3:30, had to leave work early etc., and I was really careful about booking appointments. Then the other person told me it didn't matter because Dr. Bailey came back late from surgery so I would have had to wait anyway. I said fine. Forty-five minutes later I asked how much longer. The red-haired woman said, "well you are lucky Dr. Bailey is seeing you because you see Dr. Lykens. You can leave and make another appointment." I replied that they made the appointment and they called me and asked if I was okay seeing Dr. Bailey. She then said "well you were late." I said I was not but it doesn't matter because Dr. Bailey was late coming back from surgery. I was so incredibly uncomfortable that I left, even though I had waited 16 days for the appointment. I have never had a front office person speak to me that way; it's honestly shocking. My guess is that I am not the first person she has treated this way. When I saw Dr. Lykens a year ago, he was beyond great, so warm and caring. I cannot believe a doctor like him would have front office staff that treated sick patients how I was treated today.
