| - I came here this past weekend with family from out of town. Food was good. Service was not. And no real apology for it. 2.5 hours for dinner at a casual joint is just tooooooo lonnnnnggg. Especially with a kid in tow.
I'd heard good things about Otro, and with the family asking for Mexican near their resort, this sounded like a good spot to try. It was Saturday night, 730pm and I was met with a 45 minute wait for a 4-top table... wow. Okay. Probably similar to the rest of town. We were sat right about at the 45 minute mark. Great! So we sit with our menus discussing how yummy everything looks... and discussing, and discussing, and looking at the drink menu, and discussing.... Maybe 10-12 minutes goes by and a server finally makes her way over. She takes our drink order and we also order the child's meal and drink (best to feed kids stat). We go back to the menu and chatting. Server comes back a good 7-8 minutes later with drinks ready to take our order. Forgot the kid's milk, so we reminded her. We skip appetizers due to having already waited an hour, and just get right to ordering the entrees. Ordering goes off without a hitch and the server goes to place the order .... Or so we thought? Approx 30 minutes goes by and the server appears with food ... Not our food though. She doesn't drop it, she instead goes to the correct table after staring at it quite puzzled. Another 15 minutes... Still no food. She comes by and says it should be right out. The manager comes over and says "the kitchen got backed up" ... This was just not true. We watched 2 other tables and people who came in after us at the bar get their food before we did. Finally one dish comes out and they bring 2 of our rice sides (probably just to put some food in front of us). Couple mins later the last 2 entrees appear ... About few more minutes later the last 2 sides of beans arrive. I forgot I was even waiting on beans. It was 930 by now and we were all pretty tired. Its too bad they got all screwed up, because the food was good. But all we could wonder was what really happened with our order? You would think they'd offer us a dessert or round of drinks, but it was pretty unapologetic. Front of the house blamed the back of the house, and that's pretty crappy. Questionable whether I'd return or recommend Otro. If I made my way back, I would sit at the bar where I could watch my order be placed, and eat in a timely manner with my server never more than 10 feet away.
