They took me in on short notice thx to a cancellation of another client. I came in with an image of what I would like: "layered bob". Stylist Lydia carefully examined my hair, my face, my head- took a "Before" photo, then proceeded to washing my hair to commence cutting. She probed for ideas on how short I would like, or whether I style my hair each day or not, also said if I do not care for the length she tries she can always go a bit shorter. I was going from VERY long to short, which I highly recommend for women with long hair to do, as long hair can age a person for the worse, as well as being rather out of style, as my hair was.
I make a point of not asking "how much do you charge" at these service type establishments as if you have to ask it makes everyone uncomfortable.I come prepared to spend, then after done she quoted a very low cost: may I quote it here? It was in the range of between forty and sixty dollars excluding tip, although even the finest salons in Silicon Valley charge that low end of scale expect to pay more in Phoenix (for reasons I don't know but that's not important now, but you might want to know this for your own information in case just moving here so you will not feel cheated)
Hair was shampooed, cut, blown dry and styled in UNDER AN HOUR wow! no half done job either, she is an EXPERT. She (Lydia, my stylist) took an "After" pic, I highly doubt they will use my "Before & After" photo as I do not fit their young, attractive and cool demographic- ;
Cutting hair is a skill. Some stylists just have a knack for it, some do not. I told Lydia to keep cutting hair as she is quite expert at it and she replied she plans on doing it forever, which is good. She should keep doing it, as a service to the public.
Listen guys, I've never been to a SuperCuts or "Great Cuts" but I have been to beauty school salons to save $$ and it is just not worth it. Those other places are a waste of money and they sell your marketing info, so don't bother with nonsense like chain salons, for a sub par hair cut.
GREAT PLACE- no silly stuff, just wonderful cuts, great staff and very nice - they called me a cab too, so pleasant. I adore their placement of healthy Cymbidium orchids on the reception desk when you walk in. At least I think they were cymbidiums from the leaf shape, could be others but I doubt it as nobody has orchids here except the common varieties.
