| - I usually do not write reviews, and when I do, it's usually the place is really good. However, this time, I cannot stop myself from writing a negative review. I stayed at CopperWynd during the last two nights of my trip in Arizona, and I would avoid it at all cost in my future because (1) the first night into the second day is just a nightmare for me, and (2) the staff at the restaurant are so snobby that I did not feel comfortable with dining on site any more. I am only writing regarding the first point because I am running out of space, but I really need to write out the first complaint because I basically ran out of all channels to resolve my horrifying experience besides Yelp.
I am very afraid of moths, I know it does not make sense but I am just afraid of them, and when I see them, if in an open space, I can somehow brace myself through but in a closed space, I freak out, I scream, I run out of the closed space as soon as possible and I have horrible flashbacks for the next hours or so. When I looked into CopperWynd, I wasn't thinking that it could have a lot of moths because it was in the mountain, but just thought that the place looked relatively high-end and I should not have issues like this. When I got to my room for the first night, I saw two moths trapped in the curtain in the bathroom, I screamed, I ran out of my room and asked the front desk to get rid of them in person. I also told them that I am very afraid of them. A very kind gentleman, Troy, helped me remove them. Later when I went back to change, I saw another one and asked Troy to remove it again. Then, I got back to my room at night, and once I stepped into the living area, another moth flew into my face. I was very afraid of moving so I ended up calling the front desk for help. Troy came by after 20 mins and he ended up getting rid of two in my presence - yes, I watched him doing it, the moths flying around, and it was not easy. We thought we got rid of all of them, and Troy left. Three seconds after Troy left, I saw another one and I yelled him back. This time, the moth flowed into my face and landed on my neck while Troy tried to remove it. I still remember the feeling on my neck. I am sure I screamed and jumped in front of him. After 30 mins, we thought they should be gone, but I did not sleep well because of it. Next morning, after I came back from breakfast to get my stuff and move to another room (I booked it twice so got two room assignments for the stay, not because I asked; in fact, I asked but it was booked so I didnt get to go to a new room), another moth flew into my face in the bathroom and at this point, I pretty much am too afraid to go back to my room. Another gentleman removed it for me and he stayed in my room until I get all my stuff; too bad I didnt get his name but I appreciate his help. I got to my new room, but for the entire day I did not dare to go back to my room until I finished dinner at 10 and asked Troy to check the new room. Here's the thing - every time I asked for help, I told the receptionist that I am very afraid of it, I understand it's weird but it's a big deal for me; I think the room should be inspected because finding 5 moths is just not normal; each time the receptionist tells me it's because we are in the mountain and it's natural to have them; they cant get me a new room because it was booked; they didnt have pesticide so there was nothing they could do for me besides every time I saw one call them up. Surprisingly, the second room I got had zero moths! I knew it for sure because the staff members were supposed to check it before I entered the room, but they forgot so I moved in first and the staff member checked when I was there. Also, the common area had no such issues and the common area kept the doors open. Last but not least, I stayed inside the Grand Canyon Park before staying in CopperWynd, "close to nature" and i"n the mountain" as all the receptionists have repeatedly told me, I had ZERO issues with any insects, none. The room definitely has more moths than others, and when I repeatedly told CopperWynd that it was a big deal for me, I believe CopperWynd is required to go to the extra mile to provide an effective solution, unless there's practically no solutions. Apparently it did not; the moth-free common area with open doors and my moth-free second room both prove that something could have been done with the room but it just decided not to do it. When I left a note regarding this horrifying experience before I left, the management staff read it and tossed it right into the trash. Until now, a couple of hours after checking out, I am still getting chills in the airport when thinking about it. Note, this is different from the typical "I didnt get the service" complaint, because here I am actually suffering from the experience after I repeatedly informed the resort.
