Cleanliness: The room and the hotel were generally clean. One day I forgot to take the "Do not disturb" sign off the door so the room was not cleaned when I came back. But 30 min after I called housekeeping the room was cleaned.
Room: The room was generally what you would expect from a mid-tier Marriott--the room was a moderate size but was not well decorated. The bathroom was small and pretty old.
Location: It is centrally located in downtown Cleveland (close to Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and other attractions) and about a 10-15 min cab ride away from "hipper" areas with better restaurants and bars.
Safety: During the day the area around the hotel has lots of tourists and professionals walking around but once it gets dark out, the area gets pretty sketchy. I wouldn't walk around that area alone at night.
Service: This was not great. I wanted to use my HDMI cord to connect my laptop to my TV but it wouldn't work even after I connected the wire to the room's entertainment unit. I called up the front desk who told me to plug it directly into the TV. After I explained to them that that was impossible since the TV was on the wall, they sent up an engineer who was nice but had no clue what to do. He told me that the entertainment unit wasn't working (the one where you're supposed to plug in all your wires) and so I couldn't use the cord. Also, I had to call everyday to ask for extra towels although I included that request with my reservation and again when I checked in.
CONCLUSION: A below-average Marriott in a convenient but not very safe area of Cleveland. If I didn't have to be downtown, I would not have stayed here.
