| - Basis for my starred ratings (which skews heavily to the food or drink):
1 star: Never again.
2 stars: Poor food, poor experience, extraordinary measures in order for me to come back.
3 stars: Average, nothing really special, nothing particularly bad.
4 stars: Very good, would definitely return.
5 stars: A favorite, one of the best.
This review doesn't include the food that we ordered since that comes from Artizen next door (see my review for that), just based on drinks and experience.
Cool space with a gigantic banquette seating area in the middle. Nice old-timey vibe, old harmonicas on the wall on loan from the Musical Instrument Museum. The bartender was very friendly.
Things got a little rough, but was saved by a negroni. We were here after dinner so I ordered a Fernet Branca, neat. Bartender didn't seem to know what that was, poked around the shelves for it and eventually found it. Got a served a far too large pour for a digestif. (This digestif in particular.) Small problems. My wife ordered the Garden Bouquet which sounded great on paper. Ended up being completely watered down in the end unfortunately, and that was before the ice started to melt.
All this was saved to a degree by a very nice negroni.
So all in all, this is nice bar for a hotel bar, but for a cocktail bar, there are many better. It ended up being a pretty average experience in a nice setting.
