| - If you are planning on getting your wisdom teeth out at this establishment look elsewhere. Below I share my horror story with this doctor and if you are planning on getting your wisdom teeth removed here PLEASE READ.
I decided to have the surgery with an IV so I wouldn't be awake during it. Because of my anxiety, and also per my request, they gave me laughing gas to calm me down slightly. Even with the gas I was still quite upset but they still continued to do everything without calming me down or walking me through the steps. The bedside manner of both the doctor and the nurse were horrendous.
I was hoping that would be the worst part in the operating room but boy was I surprised. I woke up in the middle of surgery and began screaming due to the crunching sound of the doctor pulling my tooth out of the back right side of my mouth. And if that wasn't enough, while I was still screaming and still awake, they continued to stick 2 needles in the back of my mouth. His only response to this was "She's a screamer, close the door".
Everything was fine up until day 4 when my pain started getting so much worse. After 7 days we planned a routine visit with the doctor just to make sure everything was okay. I told the doctor how horrible my pain has been and it seems as though it is getting worse. He inquired about my medicine dosage and I was unknowingly taking too small of a dosage. Thankfully there was no infection anyway, but that wasn't after he called my mother "noncompliant" for misreading the dosage. After this he looks inside my mouth, pushes down on the holes in the bottom right and left side of my mouth causing me immeasurable pain and sends us home saying I am fine.
That night I experienced horrible pain yet again. The next day I made an appointment with a different dentist because I couldn't bare going back to his office and being treated horribly yet again. At the other dentist office they informed me that I had 2 dry sockets and they needed to be filled. They gave us the option of going back to Dr. Saxe to have them packed but why didn't he do that the day before when he clearly saw that I had 2 exposed holes in my mouth? They offered me the option of having it done there instead, thankfully, which I took because I did not want to go back there.
After researching, getting my wisdom teeth pulled in general puts me at risk for a dry socket. Not to mention I was on a specific medication that puts me at an even higher risk for a dry socket, and traumatizing events during surgery such as me waking up in the middle put me at an even higher risk. All of which the doctor knew from the beginning. It is even more astounding that he looked at my mouth and neglected to do anything about the 2 dry sockets right in front of him. Anyway, that was my horrible experience. If you do choose to go to this office just know that the doctor will treat you horribly and neglect to fix major problems. I urge you to continue searching for a different office, preferably one with a higher yelp rating.
