| - I've wanted to try this place for some time and finally had the chance. To be fair, I will note that we were here on a Wednesday around 3p.m. and we were essentially alone in the restaurant.
Pros: Friendly, attentive staff. Clean, well lit establishment, although it is an old building and the restrooms could use a makeover. Fried zucchini appetizer was delicious, I always prefer battered over breaded.
Cons: I ordered the combo plate, pulled pork and chicken and ribs. The chicken was terrible, it tasted like boiled chicken with some mediocre sauce, very dry. The pulled pork was tender and had decent flavor after I added a lot of extra bbq sauce, but it was still not impressive. The ribs were way over done, dry and lacked any flavor of their own. Everything my family ordered was lukewarm, no steam, no juice, barely above room temp. The coleslaw had a bad odor/taste and was inedible. The cornbread may have come from a box, minimum flavor and so dry even a healthy coating of honey butter couldn't help it.
Honestly, I have to believe that would have been better on a night when they are busy because nothing seamed fresh at all. If you want good fresh bbq, go a few miles down the road to Famous Dave's, we will not return.
