  • When I wanted to get my first tattoo I checked out Ultimate Arts. I didn't expect a very wholesome environment in a tattoo studio, but an entire wall has artistic nude portraits of women with tattoos, the magazine rack sports Playboy, and the back room I was in had nude images as well. I personally didn't mind but that prevented me from being able to bring any of my church-going friends with me for moral support. During my consultation I was quoted for $100 for a small tattoo on the back of my neck, which was much less than I was expecting. I went in the next Saturday for their walk-ins, and gave them my number while I hung out around East Towne until they called me saying an artist was available. Then I met Rich. For my first appointment he was very professional and worked well and quick and got me exactly what I wanted. I was very happy with my tattoo and how he bandaged it. He walked me through everything I would need to know for the first couple weeks while it healed. He even dropped $25 off the $125 price when I told him the original quote was $100! When I went in for my free touch up, he wasn't so professional. He started joking about me taking off my shirt for him, about him taking off his pants, and things like that. When he started probing about my next tattoo, he mentioned a free one. This was to be in exchange for my nude modeling services so he could practice painting. I was extremely put off and made it clear that I was not interested and he dropped it. I went back for my next tattoo, and the issue came up again. He was again uncomfortably flirtatious and kept pushing for a photoshoot. I told him it wasn't happening and he dropped it. I'm going back in for my touch up soon, which I'm dreading, and then I'll be going elsewhere for my tattoos. Absolutely beautiful artwork, but I'm too uncomfortable to go back anymore.
