We purchased timed entry for Sunday night. I figured it might be the best bet to avoid crowds. Actually no one there. So surprised. Anyway I'm a fish guy with salt water tanks at home. Grew up visiting Shedd at least once a year. I've been to a lot of West coast Aquariums and this one sadly doesn't rank in the top 5.
Some if not all displays are a work in progress. Lack of fish in some and some other displays somewhat incomplete We actually went on the carousel just my family. It was ok but again seemed unfinished. Nervous presenters knew thier just not enough in the tanks to talk about.
I get acclimation of animals is important but offering a premium price as your continuing to improve the experience is a little insulting. So my tip...wait a year and you may see the price match the experience. They aren't ready to open yet.
Also the discount for veterans is disappointing.
I will say I was sad too see thier sick Blue tanks on display. They looked horrible and better kept in quarantine.
I'll go back but in a few years when they figure things out.
