| - Anything free is good. The fact that you didn't really have to give anything to get something in return, seriously, it's the best thing ever. So on a work trip to Toronto, I found out about the free admission on Wednesday nights. Braving the -28 degree weather, we decided to check out this newly desiged AGO, by Frank Gehry. (Check out his other buildings!)
The exterior of the building is breathtaking, glass, with wood beams, in a partial spaceship shape. It's so cool looking I couldn't wait to get inside. We arrived a bit earlier, just in case there were limited tickets. Good thing we did, because there was already a semi line up when we got there.
The interior is just as nice. Wood accents all over. The center of the open space is a very large spiral staircase, almost too large.
5 whole floors of art. I was awed by the amazing architecture inside, as well as enjoying the art at the same time. Loved the contemporary floors-seperated into rooms by different eras, as well as the photography section! Some really cool displays too. The Galleria Italia was also another fascinating area, as you can look outside onto Dundas Street.
I wished this was open until later (it closes at 8:30pm). We had to skim through certain exhibitions. I was very impressed.
I would definitely come back the next time I'm in T.O!
