I'm writing while eating a compost cookies freshly baked from my own oven! It's been almost five years since we visited the original Momofuku Milk Bar location in NYC so we were excited to hit the Toronto location at the Shangri-La Hotel. Thanks to Yelp we knew it was a walk-in fridge of Milk Bar favorites shipped directly from NYC, not a stand-alone bakery. Be prepared to spend a good amount of cash, these tasty treats have a premium price tag. You can find the full menu through the online ordering site http://milkbarstore.com.
We enjoyed the compost and corn cookies alone with slices of crack pie from the shop. We also took home compost cookie and crack pie mixes. The fresh baked goods were great and I suppose all the baked items come from a large production facility. I didn't have high expectations of the take home mixes but the compost cookie mix came with the dry ingredients in separate pouches so you cream the butter and sugar, add the dry mix, then the compost bits. In the end you do end up with a cookie that tastes like it came from the Milk Bar!
