  • This is the only Charlotte restaurant I crave consistently even when I'm not pregnant. When my husband and I first moved to the area three years ago, my first task was to find the best Thai place. After trying a few different places, I stumbled across Deejai due to a movie showing at The Manor and haven't set foot in any of the other restaurants since. I schedule every possible lunch date and dinner date at Deejai. When family comes from out of town, we go to Deejai. When we order takeout for a night in, it's Deejai. I'm rambling. Why do I love Deejai? First of all, the lunch options are one of the best deals around. Most of the more popular meals are under $10 and come with a sample appetizer and soup for free. Meals themselves are cooked to perfection, whether meat, vegetable, or noodle. Their spices and flavors are always spot-on. My favorite dishes are the Pad Thai with Chicken (the staple of every Thai restaurant) and the Yellow Curry. My husband has tried several entrees and now ends up getting the Panang Curry most every time we go in. If you're looking for an appetizer, do yourself a favor and order the crab rangoon- it is never greasy or soggy like you'd find at most Asian places. The chicken satay is also incredible- but that might be my partiality to the peanut sauce that comes with it! I might keep rambling, so I'm going to force myself to stop now. It's just that after living in several different cities I know how hard it is to find a Thai restaurant that consistently delivers over and over again and Deejai is IT.
