| - They technically did their job. I went in to return a gift. Usually with gift returns, I'm encouraged to look around so I can spend more than the item was originally worth. I looked around a little. But the two ladies at the front counter made it obvious that I was not wanted in their store. Whenever I asked about products, I was told to go online. They gave me a merchandise card (an exchange was never offered), and told me this was good for an online purchase. They were quite rude the entire time I was in the store. I will never go back. I used the card online. But honestly I don't even really like what I got, it's just ok. That experience in store ruined the whole thing for me. While I can't prove it, I got the impression that they were rude to me (or didn't want me in the store) because of my size. I'm 5'1" and a size 16, not slender. When I asked if the store carried plus sizes, I was once again referred online where they have plus size tops "all the ways to size 12." At which point I was asked what size I was, I responded "not a 12." Because at this point I was feeling patronized and it was ridiculous. I know retail. They have goals to meet. Returns count against the goals. They should be encouraging me to spend money in store. But, hey, I'm not the one that has to send that email. And, in case you're wondering, it was hours before closing time. So there was zero excuse to push me out the door.
