We watched a travel show on Portugal today and inspired us to try Portuguese food. I had read about Vila Algarve so tonight seemed a good time to try it. We stared with s glass of the house made sangria; I usually avoid sangria due to high sugar. This was refreshing and not overly sweet. We decided to try some appetizers and share an entree
First up was the Portuguese chorizo - amazing. Be sure to dip your bread in the peri-peri sauce. Or, just use a spoon - it's that good. Loved the flaming pig presentation.
I was dubious on the mussels but boy was I wrong. They were plump and the sauce was flavorful. Again, dip your bread.
I might be ordering the trinchado as a main instead of an appetizer it was that good. The chicken was moist and the sauce...wait for it...so good you have to sop it up with the toast. Yes, there's a trend here.
We shared the seafood paella and our only disappointment was that there was no crispy rice. The flavor was on point and the serving large.
We will happily return.
