| - **In the last episode - our hero was in the midst of bad customer service and on the verge of losing his unicorn...**
This horrible customer service from Eric bothered me so much I wrote an email to the Acura senior salesman, Chip Crouse. Within 2 hours I get a voicemail on my phone with an apology and a promise that I will be called back 1st thing the next morning.
8:30 AM, sure enough, a call from Chip at Acura. He remembers me because he showed me a white Type-S from 2 years ago that we couldn't agree on. Appreciated the apology and I explain what all went down. Of course, the car is now missing from the lot. Dammit, gone again! Get a call 15 minutes later that the car was actually in the back, possibly hidden for another person to check out over the weekend. Chip infers nicely if I am still interested in the car, and I go into a small rant (I blew my top, couldn't help it). I tell him, "We can talk business if the price can be changed, the bumper plug replaced, and the rear floor mats replaced. Otherwise I'm not wasting a Saturday driving across town. " Chip says he'll try but of course by now the car has been inquired about several times already in the early morn (I know how you car salesmen do with your dirty tricks). Another 20 minutes later Chip calls. The general manager Tim, is trying to give me a steal of a deal. He signs off on replacing the bumper plug and rear floor mats free of charge. He signs off on 2 years of free oil changes. Then he signs off on knocking another $300 off the internet list price for my inconvenience. Car will be on hold for me if I can make it in that day. Crap, I'm there. My 08 Honda Accord coupe in hand just in case.
But we weren't out of the woods yet. I wouldn't be signing anything if I didn't get near top dollar for my old ride, she's no hag. Then I wouldn't sign either if financing wasn't to my liking. This went on for another 1 1/2 hours. Back & forth. Didn't like it or couldn't afford it, I'm not signing. Chip was patient though, kept going back for more incentives. Finally, we worked out a deal I could live with. Deal with the dude in financing, hand over the keys and title of my beloved 08 Honda Accord coupe (thank you for the years baby, I will miss you), and wait. Type-S was detailed, waxed, and ready to go an hour later. They even washed wifey's MDX for free! Plus, I got a few extra goodies of an Acura TL chrome license plate frame, Acura labeled license plate plugs, an Acura chrome key ring holder, and an Acura reusable tote bag.
Payments aside, I love this Type-S. Gonna have to be the last car I buy in a long while. Timeless design, elegance, performance and luxury in a not too luxury price. FINALLY, the unicorn has come home!
Thanks Chip & Acura of Las Vegas!
