| - The Bell Centre has no where near the same amount of history and atmosphere of the old Forum but as far as arenas go, you could do a lot worse I guess.
I could care less about hockey and the Montreal Canadians ( yeah, I know sacrilege, so sue me) but I've come here dozens of times for major concerts Depeche Mode (5 times), Prince, Radiohead, Foo Fighters, The Cure, The Police, Coldplay, Van Halen, Def Leppard, RUSH, Bryan Adams, U2, Duran Duran and many others which I can't remember anymore. The thing with arena shows is that they could go either way, if the performer sucks, then even if the sound is perfect, nothing can salvage the show. If the performers know how to throw on a real show and connect with the audience, then real magic can happen and I've been lucky enough to witness this few times. Being in an arena means that everything is amplified, the sound, the crowd, the sights so it takes a very talented performer who can project themselves outward in such a way so that they can take large spaces and make them feel intimate and not a lot of people can do that. The food and beer is super-overpriced so you're best off getting eats somewhere else before the show.
