It is a Saturday morning and my 8 year old daughter woke up with a sharp/burning pain in her eye. I go online to her HPN account to see what urgent care locations are covered, and I cannot find this information anywhere in our online account! I decide to use the CareNow online doctor visit. So...I pay $10 for her to tell me that my daughter needs to go to an urgent care, that she cannot help me. She tells me I can go to Southwest Medical Urgent Care...so I ask if this is covered under my insurance...and she says she doesn't know anything about my insurance, that I need to call them. So...I call HPN...and there is no answer bc. they are only open Monday through Friday 9 to 5. I am left on my own to call urgent care facilities to find out if they take HPN...and that is a nightmare, as they don't answer their phone (Southwest Medical) bc. they too are only open Monday to Friday. WHAT???? Omg...I try to use their online signup....and their website is broken. I give up. I called my own ophthalmologist and I am taking her in this afternoon and paying cash. What a mess! What good is HPN if it has NO ANSWERS on their website, and no one on call during off-business hours. If I could have chosen a different insurance from the Marketplace I would have...but this was all that was offered...an HMO by this terrible company!
