| - Today was my second visit into this clinic as a patient and it was just as fabulous as my first.
Upon my first visit, the evaluation, earlier this week, my therapist, Ben, greeted me at the door in a professional and inviting manner that made me feel very comfortable,even-though I was coming for an uncomfortable situation, knee surgery. He brought me into a private treatment room where he asked me about my relevant medical history, my current surgical condition and my level of discomfort.
Ben took some measurements and while he was working with me he was simultaneously educating me about my surgical condition, what to expect, provided positions, while at home, of relief and what to expect in the next few weeks. He didn't waste anytime but, rather started me the same day to maximize my range of motion by putting me through a subtly challenging therapeutic program, considering I had knee surgery 5 days before.
He used electrical stimulation to allow for my muscles to be "reeducated" as he explained for faster return of my leg strength. He gave me five exercises to work on at home.
I was a little nervous going to my first appointment but, Ben made me feel comfortable and respected my recent surgery. I actually felt much better physically and mentally after meeting him.
Moving back to today, my second visit, I was greeted by Ben's technician, Lauren, she was super bubbly and again made me feel comfortable in the clinic. She was helpful to remind me of the correct techniques of my exercises and was able to set me up on the E-stim. She was very pleasant to work with. Ben, again, worked on me for a long time, in which he educated me about my process/progress, he worked on my knee and, again my knee felt better after I left.
During my session time today at least 5 or 6 workers came up to introduce themselves to me and ask how I was doing. I remember thinking, this clinic really makes me feel special :) , it did! I felt like people genuinely cared about my knee.
This may sound funny but I am looking forward to therapy next week.
