  • Last minute Valentine's day truffles. I stopped in yesterday to get some chocolates for my wife after seeing an ad in the NewTimes. The shop is next door to Karls Bakery which is owned by the daughter's father on the SE corner of 7th Ave and Dunlap. I believe there was a liqour store here many years ago. The shop is small and filled with chocolates. Chocolate hearts, chocolate truffles, chocolate pastries, chocolate cookies, you name it. I was asking what kind of boxes they had and packages and was told I could pick my own. I went with a box that holds 18 truffles and started to order away. There was a wide variety to choose from. Amaretto, Rose, Rasberry, Orange, Kahlua, and pleanty more. After chatting with the young lady at the counter she tells me shes the Bakers Daughter and went to Switzerland for 6 years to learn about chocolates and came back and helped her dad with his bakery and finally was able to open her shop. She let me sample a couple of her favorite truffles and I was blown away. She explained everything is made the real way and in the back of her shop with the best ingredients. You could definitely tell the attention to detail in how they looked and more importantly how awesome they tasted. She was a real sweetheart and thanked me for my business. She even took my Discover card! I gave them to my wife and she absolutely loved them. I look forward to coming back and urge anyone who needs a last minute Valentines Day gift or any other occasion or someone who just likes chocolate and supporting local shops to give it a try.
