  • I'd rather give David's bridal 2.5 stars, but that isn't an option so here goes... I am not a bridezilla...let me stress that before I start. I went to David's Bridal after I had gone to Vera's for a quick comparison and just to see what low end bridal gowns would look like and also get an idea of their ordering policy. I absolutely LOVED the gown I found at Vera's and wanted to purchase it but it was a six month (minimum) waiting period. I understand this because essentially the gowns are made to order (like food) and they are done by experienced designer seamstresses. I simply could not wait for my gown because my wedding is in May. With that in mind I decided to see what other options I would have. I went to David's Bridal during non peak times without an appointment and they were able to fit me in which was nice. I told the attendant what I had in mind and we tried a couple gowns and they were nice, but just not my style. While she went to grab another gown I decided to look at the clearance rack, that is where I found it...a lovely, vintage inspired, ivory gown in my size. I couldn't believe it and it was only $500! I was planning on losing weight for my wedding so I bought one size down and was told it would be about six weeks for my gown to arrive. Sounds like not a bad experience, right? Well, I'm not done yet. I went to pick up my gown today and decided to try it on. It already fit even though I bought it a size smaller. I decided to talk to the alterations "specialist" about what I wanted and pricing. I thought this would be simple, it wasn't. She treated me like I was an idiot, shot down every idea that I had and suggested alterations that would be easy for her to do and not what I wanted. I won't go into specifics because it is pointless. I consulted two other alterations specialists, one at Vera's and one Vera suggested and both agreed that they could easily accomplish my requests and that timing wouldn't be an issue. Their prices were a little higher, but I don't mind that since I found a great deal on my dress. If you aren't into designer labels, on a budget, have time constraints and don't mind being insulted then go to David's Bridal. However, if you have the time and the funds, go to Vera's. You will be appreciated, get to try on 10 times the amount of dresses and get your dream wedding gown.
