  • I was debating whether to go to Hillside Spot or hit up Sprouts and make my own meal. I found the experience to be pretty much in line with reviews, that is - inconsistency is the problem here. On walking in, its a nice open layout concept - the hipsters on yelp tend to call it quaint or cute, while everyone else seems to say hipster. I wasn't really welcomed, but the girl stared at me as I walked up to the host stand and I said "for one" and she asked if I wanted bar or table. The server was sort of quick, then the manager took my order. I probably looked obnoxious reading the yelp reviews but lone diner, give me a break. Food was good, not that anyone asked, got one refill (which I requested), sort of wanted dessert but I was left alone despite being at the POS so I just put out my card and left. I think the best thing for this place is to go in with medium expectations and hope to be pleasantly surprised. They definitely think that being local may do better than some 101 on service. My salad - the Thai salad special- wasn't what I was looking for when I walked in, but delicious. Oh and they forgot to put some regulars order next to me. This is the second or third time I've been here, the other times being awhile ago - long wait, inconsistent food (my meal sucked previously), or really good meal? Maybe they hit like 30% success rate.
