| - I love hop on/hop off sightseeing tours. I've been on maybe a dozen of them in other cities. I think they are a fantastic way of seeing many of the most important sights in a city, getting a good taste for a city, and creating a list of some of the places you want to get a better look at. Plus, they are an entertaining way of getting from one sight to the next.
That being said, I had high hopes for Big Bus in Las Vegas. I took a friend for her birthday, and I really expected it to be a good experience. I was willing to overlook the fact that Big Bus tends to be a bit more expensive than other sightseeing buses.
The problem was that Big Bus is a live narrated tour, and all narrators are not created equal. We had 3 different tour guides on the 2 loops we went on. The best guide was the first one- he was funny, knowledgeable, and was really good at sharing his knowledge about a lot of the places we were driving by. The 2nd guide was alright- he shared a decent amount of information. They are the reason I would have given Big Bus 1 star even if 0 stars were an option.
Unfortunately, the guide we were with during the entire 2nd loop was lousy. He was so busy talking to 2 girls that he didn't share information on more than 2 locations- during an hour plus tour, we heard about TWO buildings, and not even that much about those buildings. We skipped out on a different activity we'd been thinking of doing so that we could go on that loop. We sat on the top freezing so that we could see everything better. And we heard about two sights!
I love to travel, so I will definitely be going on more city sightseeing tours, but there is no way I'm going on Big Bus again until they can guarantee a more consistent experience.
