| - Review is for dinner 10/30/16
I had promised to take my wife to a 'nice dinner' before a show at PH next door, we slipped in here after browsing the menu posted outside.
We were quickly seated inside, since it was starting to cool off and windy. The indoor dining room is lovely, the chairs super comfy. The server was right there, took our drink orders (just soft drinks). Nothing on the menu indicated how much they were, was a taken aback to see they charge $4.99 for a coke.
Anyway, before you quit reading, I want to point out something I didnt see in any review:
"CNF"
What is that? After I questioned it, the waitress told me its a Concession/Franchise fee. An additional 4.7% of your bill tacked on at the end. Surveying the menu again, I spotted it, sure enough in very small print at the bottom they state this. I hope this isnt another monstrous Vegas trend, like 6/5 blackjack, resort fees, or parking fees. Anyway, just make sure you dont TIP on the TAX nor the CNF.
We were a little short on time, so we both ordered entrees, no appetizers or sides. Wife ordered Tagliatelle Scampi (shrimp, butter, garlic, wine, parsley, chili in fettuccine noodles) and i ordered 8oz Filet Mignon with roasted asparagus) - medium rare.
Soooooo, out comes the food - now, I ask you, how many pieces of asparagus would you expect? 6 (standard serving)? 8? How about 3. Yes, 3. I know this is an a la carte restaurant, but if you say it comes with asparagus, I expect a whole serving. And sadly, for $37, they cant get a piece of Filet Mignon cooked right, its on the done side of medium. I dont have time to wait for a refire, so I ate anyway, and didnt complain. I was given every opportunity, but didnt.
The Scampi were fairly small shrimp, i'd guess in the 51-60 range, cooked about right. But the sauce seemed bland, neither of us detected a hint of garlic. The 'chile' were shaved pieces used as garnish on top, we both thought pretty inedible. I wouldve salted this up a bit, but like any haughty restaurant, you wont find salt/pepper at your table.
High prices, a somewhat hidden tack on fee, bland scampi, didnt get the steak right, i'm left at 2 stars. If we had ordered a full meal and 'real drinks' we wouldve easily been over $61 each, so its $$$$.
